This scent is a new direction for Byredo, a brand known more for soft and floral scents. Accord Oud examines the darker side of oud. Here it is presented in a toned-down way, the scent starts with the fruity sweet tones of rum and blackberry, combined with saffron-scented dark leather. The oud is present, but it's smoothed out by the clary sage and patchouli, before it dries down to soft leathery notes.

The aroma of oud is musky, smooth, and somewhat medicinal. Used in traditional incense and perfumes, oud is also mentioned in one of the world's oldest written texts the ancient Indian Vedas.
